Two juveniles flee from Etawah observation home

Kanpur: Two juveniles escaped from the Government Juvenile Home located in Sarai Aisar in the Civil Lines police station area of Etawah on Friday night. According to reports, the two juveniles, held in separate cases, smashed a toilet window and escaped. News of the break-out triggered a stir in the police department, and a search operation was launched. One of them was later recaptured by the police. The two juveniles held at Juvenile Unit 2 of the observation home seized a nighttime opportunity, broke the toilet window and escaped. Staff alerted police via Dial 112, and officers immediately cordoned off the area and began a search. One escapee is a 14-year-old from Kanpur Nagar, admitted on Jan 16; the other is a 17-year-old from the same city, detained under the Pocso Act.The police have not officially confirmed the arrest of any juvenile so far. As soon as the information about the incident was received, police and administrative officers reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Questions are also being raised about the security arrangements of the juvenile home. A case is being registered at Civil Lines police station by the superintendent of the juvenile unit, while police teams have launched a search for the remaining juvenile. Etawah SSP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said one juvenile offender has been taken into custody, and police are working to apprehend the second, with detention expected soon.
