Bengaluru: An Instagram lure has triggered a police case against a beauty clinic in Nagarbhavi, west Bengaluru, with a 27-year-old woman alleging cheating, harassment and threats after undergoing skin treatment. The complainant, a teacher from Beguru, told Annapoorneshwarinagar police that the reel — uploaded by a person identified as Chaithanya — promoted treatments for pimples, acne, pimple marks and other skin problems, claimed risk-free results, and said the clinic was run by a certified cosmetologist.
She visited the clinic on Oct 7, 2025, and underwent treatment, paying Rs 17,000. She was given a glow-boosting moisturiser, a hydrating sunscreen lotion, a night cream, and a brightening face wash. After using the products, she allegedly developed severe skin reactions, including pimples, itching, swelling and pain. When she informed the clinic staff, she was advised to stop all products except the night cream and brightening face wash, but her condition worsened, the complaint said. The woman returned to the clinic on Nov 21 and questioned the staff, following which the cosmetologist and her husband allegedly humiliated her and issued threats.A senior police officer said a case has been registered under BNS sections 318 (cheating), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and investigations are on.
