Additional CEO to head Noida Authorityfor now

Noida: Krishna Karunesh, additional CEO at Noida Authority, has been given the additional charge of CEO following the removal of Lokesh M in the wake of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta’s death in a flooded plot on Jan 17. Karunesh, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been serving as additional CEO of the Authority since July last year.In its order, UP govt clarified that Karunesh is being given the additional responsibility until a permanent CEO is appointed. “I have been directed to instruct you that until a permanent (regular) posting is made to the post of chief executive officer, Noida, you shall discharge the responsibilities of the post of chief executive officer, Noida, along with the responsibilities of your present post,” read the letter signed by special secretary Vijay Kumar.Prior to this, Karunesh served as the district magistrate of Gorakhpur, Hapur and Balrampur. He was also vice-chairperson of Ghaziabad Development Authority and chief development officer of Ghaziabad. The removal of Lokesh M came amid a public outcry over alleged administrative apathy on issues such as waterlogging and drainage in the wake of the software engineer’s death, with residents holding the Authority responsible for failing to address them. The state govt has formed an three-member SIT to probe lapses on the part of the administration and the sequence of events that led to the tech professional’s death.
