Kanpur: A dramatic scene unfolded in Kanpur’s Chakeri area on Friday morning when a girl’s attempt to hide her boyfriend in a box took an unexpected turn. According to police, the girl, a resident of the area, had called her boyfriend to her home around 11:30 am, taking advantage of her elder brother’s absence and her mother’s departure for work at a factory. However, the girl’s aunt came calling. In a bid to conceal her boyfriend’s presence, she hid him in a box and locked it. Things quickly went awry as the boyfriend found himself trapped inside the box for a whopping 45 minutes, sparking a commotion in the neighborhood.
The girl’s aunt called out to her niece and knocked, but got no response. The aunt then summoned her son, who shouted and tried to force the door open, yet the girl still refused to unlock it.The aunt locked the main gate from outside and called the girl’s brother and mother.The family knocked on the door, and the girl finally opened it. They searched the room and the whole house for the boy, but he was nowhere to be found. Then they heard muffled sounds coming from inside a box and demanded the girl hand over the key. When the girl did not give the key, the family members tried to break the lock. When they could not break it, they informed the police.Police arrived around 12 noon, and as soon as the box was opened, the girl’s boyfriend emerged from inside. Police took the duo to the police station. Chakeri police station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra said duo’s questioning is underway and action will be taken based on that.
