Ludhiana: Police have booked 13 suspects in a massive Rs-9-crore heist involving the “disappearance” of 1 lakh tonnes of construction material. The alleged scam was uncovered during a quarterly audit at Legal India Limited in Tagore Nagar. Complainant Sanuj Agarwal reported that nearly 2,000 truckloads of sand, gravel, and soil had vanished from company records. Following a high-level probe, Division Number Eight police registered a case against the accused, identified as Mohan Singh, Navdeep Walia, and 11 others. The investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Davinder Singh, stated that the suspects had allegedly “destroyed” the stock trail to facilitate the theft. The sheer scale of the heist — about 1 lakh tonnes — has stunned local officials. Police are now tracing the logistical movements of the missing trucks to determine how such a vast quantity of material was siphoned off undetected.
