Chamala urges Kishan to order SCCL tender inquiry

Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday urged Union coal minister G Kishan Reddy to order a comprehensive inquiry into all tenders, contracts and official procedures undertaken by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) since 2014.In a letter to the Union minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy said the proposed inquiry should cover decisions taken during the previous BRS govt as well as tender processes currently under implementation. Stressing the need to protect the interests of SCCL, he said any irregularities or lapses in tender allocations over the past decade must be identified and placed in the public domain to ensure transparency and accountability.

Describing SCCL as a prestigious public sector undertaking, the MP said maintaining probity, transparency and public trust in its functioning was crucial.Kiran Kumar Reddy also welcomed the Union minister’s response to the controversy surrounding the Naini coal block tenders and the decision to order an inquiry by a two-member central team.
