Bhubaneswar: The city witnessed heightened political drama on Friday as supporters of suspended Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra moved their protest from BJD headquarters to Naveen Niwas, the residence of party president Naveen Patnaik.Hundreds of demonstrators, who earlier rallied at Sankha Bhavan, raised slogans demanding Mohapatra’s reinstatement and denouncing his suspension. Anticipating the march, police tightened security around Naveen Niwas, deploying additional personnel and home guards to prevent any untoward incident.The protest marked a sharp escalation in the unrest within BJD, with dissent spilling onto the streets and directly targeting the party leadership’s residence. The anger among protesters intensified after they were denied a meeting with Patnaik.
