Noida: Early morning showers led to long hours of outages in several sectors. Some of the affected areas included Sectors 22, 33, 44, 105, 55, 81 among others. Local faults due to overgrown tree branches falling also caused the outages.Over 8-hour power cut was reported on Friday in Sector 55. Residents complained that the power first went out three times between 6 and 8am. After 8am, the outage continued till 4 pm, leaving angry residents demanding answers to power cuts in winter. Satnarayan Goyal, president of the RWA for Sector 55, expressed frustration over the recurring power issues, stating, “This isn’t the first time – it’s the same situation every time it rains lightly. Isn’t a regular electricity supply our right?”Goyal emphasised that residents deserve accountability and better systems from the electricity department. “Now we don’t want to complain. We want a permanent solution,” he said, and escalated the issue to Yogendra Sharma, president of the federation of Noida resident welfare associations (FONRWA), urging immediate action.Anurag Saxena, assistant engineer (AE) at the 33/11 kV substation in Sector 22 and Noida Stadium Sector 21A, said the outages in Sector 55 were due to fallen tree branches in some places and disruptions caused by winds during the morning’s heavy rain.Residents from other affected sectors also raised similar concerns. Vivek Kumar Patel, superintending engineer, Noida power department, told TOI that usually the first shower in the season leads to some local faults caused by moisture, cable box damage, or tree fall incidents.
