Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Friday directed newly-appointed director general of police (DGP) Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal to take firm action against illegal immigration and the drug menace, warning of their serious impact on social harmony and internal security.During a meeting at Lok Bhavan, the governor stressed the urgency of tackling narcotics to protect the state’s youth from substance abuse. He also called for visible policing and stronger intelligence networks in insurgency-affected districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, urging close coordination with local communities to instil confidence and restore peace, according to a statement from Lok Bhavan.Parnaik further advised the police chief to ensure judicious use of manpower and resources in maintaining law and order across the state. He emphasised the adoption of modern technology — including digital surveillance, data-driven policing and smart crime analysis tools — to enhance efficiency and move towards a crime-free Arunachal Pradesh.Jamwal, who assumed charge on Thursday, briefed the governor on his immediate priorities and strategic roadmap for strengthening peace, public safety and overall law and order.
