Bengaluru: As many as 113 police personnel, including IPS officers and women cops, were awarded cash prizes, amounting to Rs 35 lakh, for investigating two criminal cases – a rape case against former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and a bank dacoity from Davanagere.“These two cases were unique in nature. Carrying out investigation was not an ordinary task. Scientific skills and effective policing were needed. The teams showed commitment, enthusiasm and dedication,” a senior police officer said. A 30-member special investigation team, led by additional director-general of police (CID) BK Singh, won Rs 25 lakh for successfully investigating the case against former PM HD Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal, who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Chief investigating officer BK Singh was given an appreciation letter by the govt and two women IPS officers, Suman Pennekar and Seema Latkar, were awarded Rs 2.5 lakh each. Another woman officer, inspector Shobha G, was awarded over Rs 1.7 lakh. The remaining officers of different ranks were given between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 25,000 each. The second cash award, amounting to Rs 10 lakh, was distributed among 83 police personnel who probed the infamous bank dacoity at Nyamati in Davanagere in Oct 2024. Inspired by popular Spanish crime drama Money Heist, miscreants had fled with 17kg of gold. Cops arrested six men from neighbouring states and recovered the booty.
