Tribute paid to martyr Hemu Kalani

Kanpur: A programme was organised at Sindhu International School, Barra 2, Kanpur, on the 83rd martyrdom day of Sindh son Hemu Kalani, who sacrificed his life at a young age in the freedom struggle movement. The event was organised by the National Sindhi Language Development Council, Ministry of Education, Govt of India, and the Hemu Kalani Memorial Educational Institution.Bharatiya Janata Party leader and national president of Sindhi Sabha Ashok Anshwani was the chief guest. While garlanding the portrait of Veer Hemu Kalani, he said that the true tribute to Hemu would be if the Govt of India honours him with the Bharat Ratna title. He said that at just 19 years of age, the revolutionary sacrificed his life for the country while fighting against British rule. On Jan 21, 1943, the British govt executed him at the Central Jail in Sukkur district of Sindh.
