The cash dispensing machine, which is located in Karandi village along the Shikrapur-Chakan road, belonged to a white label operator, a set-up which is owned and managed by companies other than banks. In this case, the ATM is owned by a Bengaluru-based private company.“There was Rs 1.5 lakh in the machine and the entire amount is intact,” inspector Deepratan Gaikwad of the Shikrapur police told TOI.Gaikwad said around 2.30am on Tuesday, a worker from the tyre shop located next to the kiosk woke up after hearing a loud thud. When he came out of the shop, he found the ATM kiosk was broken and dragged out with the help of the pick-up truck. “There were 5 people near the vehicles, who threatened the worker of dire consequences. The worker went inside the shop and alerted the owner of the establishment where the kiosk was located,” Gaikwad said.He said the owner, who was staying nearby, immediately came out. Some other people also gathered. Seeing the people, the thieves fled. “Our team reached the spot immediately and carried out searches for the accused, but they escaped,” he said.Gaikwad said, “We have formed 2 teams to trace the accused. We have started working on some clues.”
