HYDRAA secures 6 acre govt land in Ghatkesar

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) secured 6.12 acres of govt land at Kachavani Singaram village in Ghatkesar, after district survey officials confirmed that the land belongs to the govt.Officials said the land was fenced only after the district survey officer demarcated the boundaries and declared it as govt property. While existing residential structures were excluded, the remaining land was secured on Monday to prevent further encroachments.“Members of one Hanumanth Reddy family allegedly sold nearly 50 plots carved out of the govt land by showing survey nos. 62 and 63, which are private lands, and marketing them as part of the Divya Nagar layout. They directly occupied around three acres of the land and developed it into a mango orchard, despite having no formal allotment,” said HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath.Officials said Nallamalla Reddy applied in 2009 seeking allocation of the land for educational institutions, but revenue records continued to classify the land as govt property. Though, notices were issued by the Ghatkesar Mandal Revenue Officer in 2010, the encroachments allegedly continued.HYDRAA filed a complaint at the Medipally police station, against Nallamalla Reddy and members of the Hanumanth Reddy family under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPP).Officials said enforcement action was taken only after an assistant/additional director (AD) survey team re-verified and demarcated the land.
