Aizawl: The Mizoram Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (Mulco) and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) signed an MoU to strengthen and develop milk production and dairy processing in Mizoram.The MoU was signed in the presence of CM Lalduhoma and cooperation minister PC Vanlalruata.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of Mizoram by secretary for cooperation Udit Rai Prakash, NDDB executive director S Rajeev and Mulco MD Lalhmunliani.Under the ministry of cooperation’s flagship scheme, White Revolution 2.0, NDDB will prepare a comprehensive dairy development plan for Mizoram and provide technical support and assistance in required areas. Mulco will implement interventions under the plan in the state.According to the Bureau of Animal Husbandry & Statistics (BAHS) 2024–25, Mizoram recorded the lowest daily milk production in the northeast during 2024–25 at 64.4 thousand kilograms per day (TKgPD).In his address, CM Lalduhoma said the agreement would enhance milk production and improve livelihoods and income opportunities for livestock farmers. He said Mizoram has a tradition of animal husbandry and land resources suitable for livestock rearing.“By integrating modern technology and improved practices, the state’s potential can be harnessed more productively,” he said. He also called for setting up a project monitoring unit (PIU) to ensure effective implementation of the agreement.
