Bhubaneswar: Three men were killed and six injured in three separate road accidents here on Wednesday, all involving SUVs.A speeding SUV hit a two-wheeler from behind in front of Capital Hospital in the early hours, killing pillion rider Raja Pedini, 38, of Old Town.
The bike rider and another pillion passenger sustained injuries.
A police officer said: “CCTV footage showed the SUV attempting to overtake the bike before the collision, and the driver fled the scene.” Later in the afternoon, another SUV rammed into a car in Chandaka, leaving four men injured, two of them critically. “At night, a car crashed into a trailer from behind on the NH-16 near Pitapalli, resulting in the deaths of two passengers. In a related incident, an oil tanker leaked fuel on NH-16 near Palasuni, causing a massive traffic jam as vehicles skidded on the slippery road. NHAI authorities spread sand to prevent further accidents.
