The Cattle Nuisance and Control Department of the AMC on Wednesday issued a tender to buy kennels to house captured dogs. The plan is to separate aggressive and infected canines. Following SC guidelines, stray dogs that are either aggressive or infected will be captured and housed in these specific kennels. The AMC has decided to purchase the kennels at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh. A random survey conducted by the AMC in 2019 estimated the city’s stray dog population at 2.1 lakh. Against the estimated population, the city’s shelter capacity is only 400-500 dogs. tnn
