70% sewer lines desilted, says MCG

Gurgaon: MCG completed 70% of the desilting of the sewerage lines, and the remaining will be done by April-end, claimed officials in MCG’s sewerage management cell meeting held here on Wednesday. During a review meeting, chaired by the MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, officials discussed 40 critical points of the city where complaints of sewerage overflow were reported.These cells were formed with the objective of a permanent solution to sewage-related problems in the MCG area and effectively dealing with the waterlogging problem during the monsoon.With the formation of the cell, work started at all these locations with the goal of providing a permanent solution, for which the deadline was set as April 2026. So far, about 70% of the work has been completed, while the remaining 30% will be completed within the stipulated timeline, officials said.These 40 locations include Saraswati Enclave, Shakti Park, Sector-10, Khandsa, Shiv Colony, Indira Colony, Tighra, Narsinghpur, Mohammadpur Jharsa, Begampur Khatola, Maidawas, Nurpur Mod, New Colony, Devilal Colony, Jharsa, Islampur, Mohyal Colony, Sector-40, Prempuri, Sector-31, Ghata, Ullawas, Bandhwari, Bahrampur, Sector-43, Shivaji Nagar, Lakshmi Garden, Rajendra Park and Jacobpura, among other areas.While chairing the meeting, the commissioner instructed officials that all works related to sewerage and monsoon management should be completed with coordination and quality. “Continuous monitoring should be maintained at field level to ensure citizens do not face any kind of inconvenience, and all pending works should be completed on a priority basis within the set timeline,” said the commissioner. During the review of the monsoon management cell (MMC), a detailed draft was presented in the meeting.
