Hyderabad: Beauty and personal care giant L’Oréal will set up its first AI-powered global beauty tech innovation hub in Hyderabad. The company will invest €350 million (approx Rs 3,500 crore) by 2030. The tech hub, which will be a first-of-its-kind globally, will focus on developing the next generation of AI-powered beauty innovations.L’Oréal plans to leverage emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, and data, and expects to create around 2,000 advanced tech jobs. The French giant said its hub will play a key role in its integrated global AI and tech network along with tech hubs in France, USA, China, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.The announcement came after a high-level meeting of IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu and special chief secretary Sanjay Kumar with L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos.Hieronimus said L’Oréal, which has been present in India over the past 31 years, is now harnessing the country’s tech and AI engineering expertise to power its hub. “We believe that the future of beauty lies at the intersection of science, technology and creativity, so Hyderabad will now sit at the heart of our AI and digital ambition. This hub reinforces our commitment to India’s growth,” he said.Chief minister Revanth Reddy said L’Oréal’s decision to choose Hyderabad reflects the deep confidence that global leaders place in Telangana’s innovation ecosystem and highly skilled talent pool. “This partnership directly supports our ‘Telangana Rising: 2047 Vision’ by creating 2,000 high-value jobs and positioning our state as a global epicentre for AI and digital excellence,” the CM added.Sridhar Babu termed L’Oréal’s decision as a “powerful” endorsement of Telangana’s ability to attract world-leading innovation. “By aligning beauty with cutting-edge AI, data, and engineering, L’Oréal is not only shaping the future of its industry but also contributing to our state’s journey as a global hub for digital excellence and innovation-led growth,” the minister added.“The establishment of L’Oréal’s global tech hub aligns seamlessly with our newly formed Telangana AI Hub, which is designed to serve as a catalyst for applied AI, advanced data engineering, and next-generation digital capabilities. Together, these initiatives reinforce Hyderabad’s position as a global centre where cutting-edge AI innovation is built, deployed, and scaled for the world,” Sanjay Kumar said.
