CHENNAI: Soon after AMMK leader T T V Dhinakaran joined the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami extended a warm welcome, calling for unity to liberate Tamil Nadu from what he termed the DMK’s “family rule”.Taking to social media, EPS said, “With people’s welfare as our sole objective, let all of us come together and unite to free Tamil Nadu from the grip of the DMK’s family rule. We work together to uproot and overthrow the tyranny and dynastic politics of the DMK and to re-establish the golden rule of the revolutionary leader Amma in Tamil Nadu.”
“I warmly welcome and extend my heartfelt wishes to the General Secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, who has joined the NDA today,” EPS said, tagging Dhinakaran’s official X handle.Responding to the message, Dhinakaran told reporters that he would meet the AIADMK leader when the opportunity arises.Dhinakaran had been sharply critical of EPS in recent years, branding him a “traitor” and accusing him of “hijacking the AIADMK and turning it into an Edappadi-ADMK”. He exited the NDA in September last year, opposing the projection of EPS as the chief ministerial face of the alliance. However, setting aside past differences, Dhinakaran has now buried the hatchet and returned to the NDA.
