District Mineral Foundation reports not presented in 8 years: Gujarat Congress

Gandhinagar: Quoting observations from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India reports, the state unit of the Congress party said on Tuesday that District Mineral Foundation (DMF) reports have not been presented to the assembly for the past 8 years. The party said that, according to the CAG report, Gujarat’s 32 DMFs received contributions of Rs 1,608 crore, of which only Rs 756.62 crore was used for health, environment, education, drinking water, women and child welfare, welfare of the elderly and disabled, sanitation and skill development activities.GPCC spokesperson Parthivrajsinh Kathavadia said, “The CAG observed that reports of the DMFs for the period 2016-17 to 2023-24 should have been presented in the assembly, but that was not done. In addition, the CAG also pointed out various irregularities in projects undertaken by the DMFs in five districts.”

“There should be an SIT investigation into all 32 DMFs in Gujarat, and the pending reports must be presented in the budget session of the assembly,” Kathavadia said. He added that, according to the CAG report, of the Rs 84.46 crore received as environmental compensation from penalties for illegal mining, Rs 83.61 crore remains unutilised.
