Bhubaneswar: The Odisha govt, as part of Census 2027, will carry out house-listing operations from April 16 to May 15 this year, according to a notification issued on Tuesday. The notification gives citizens an option to self-enumerate housing data between April 1 and April 15, ahead of the door-to-door house-listing exercise. Deoranjan Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary, revenue and disaster management department, issued the notification.During the self-enumeration window, citizens can submit details such as the type and use of house, access to drinking water, toilet facilities, electricity, cooking fuel, assets and amenities through a dedicated web portal or mobile application, without waiting for an enumerator to visit their homes. The dates were decided to avoid any overlap with special intensive revision of electoral rolls, dates for which are yet to be notified. The registrar-general and census commissioner of India had issued a notification on Jan 7, permitting states to carry out houselisting operations for any 30-day period between April 1 and Sept 30, 2026. It also allowed states to offer a 15-day self-enumeration option immediately preceding the houselisting phase.Population enumeration in the state will be done in Feb-March next year, the state-level census coordination committee has decided earlier this month. The exact dates for the same will be notified after the RGI gives its go-ahead, govt sources said.
