When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, the advocate general informed the court that they could not file written submissions as per the court’s earlier directions in Nov 2025 since replies by the petitioners were filed recently. In the first petition, a reply was filed on Monday, and in two other petitions, the replies were filed on Jan 17.In response, the petitioners’ counsels, referring to the earlier order, informed the court that the state, which ought to have filed its counter by Dec 10, delayed and filed its counter only on Jan 6, which was almost a month’s delay. They delayed the counter without seeking any extension or any communication, the counsels informed the court.“As per the Nov 12 order, the state had to file counters in four weeks, and after that three-week time was allotted to us to file our replies. Since they filed the counter itself on Jan 6, we ought to have filed our replies by Jan 27 only, but since the matter is listed today, we filed our replies accordingly,” the counsel submitted.Recording the submissions, the bench directed that written submissions be filed a week before the next date of hearing and adjourned the matters.
