Jaipur: The 52nd edition of Sharma-Mathur state-level cricket tournament, organised by the Banipark Cricket Club, will begin on January 21.In the inaugural match, Maitri Cricket Club will take on The Rising Cricket Club at the Soni Stadium on Wednesday.
Around twenty teams from across Rajasthan including defending champions Jaipur Blues, last year’s runners-up Aravali Cricket Academy, semifinalists Rajasthan Youth and SJ School Cricket Academy will compete for the top honours, stated tournament secretary SM Mathur in a press note here on Tuesday.Tournament will be played on knock-out basis and matches will be of 40-over a side. BR Soni, SM Mathur, Pradyuman Sharma, Surendra Choube will inaugurate the tournament on Wednesday.It is one of the oldest cricket tournaments in the country and many top players have played this tournament early in their careers.
