Severed head of infant found in Patna's Fatuha area
An unsettling incident in the outskirts of Patna’s Fatuha area has left residents in disbelief after the head of a three-month-old baby was shockingly located on a street. As the community grapples with fear and sorrow, theories regarding the involvement of occult practices circulate widely.

Patna: The discovery of a severed head of a three-month-old child shocked residents near Kachchi Dargah in Patna’s Fatuha area, sparking suspicions of a possible human sacrifice linked to tantrik rituals or superstition. The incident came to light on Monday night when locals spotted the child’s severed head on the paved road leading to the Ganga river under the Nadi police station area. Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot and secured the area by dispersing the gathered crowd.A dog squad and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team inspected the site thoroughly. Evidence, including blood samples, was collected and sent for expert analysis. Efforts continued with the dog squad to locate the remaining body parts in the surrounding areas. The severed head was sent to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for post-mortem examination. A case was registered at Nadi police station under relevant sections.Given the gravity of the crime, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of SDPO I Fatuha Kundan Kumar to expedite the probe. The SDPO, Kundan, said to identify the infant, police issued wireless alerts to all police stations in Patna district and neighbouring districts. “Data on missing children (aged roughly 1 month to 1 year) is being cross-checked. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and gathering other technical inputs,” he said on Tuesday. He emphasised ongoing efforts, and investigations continued to determine any links to related cases, such as a recent newborn theft reported in the area. “The investigation remains active, with all possible resources deployed to solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the SDPO added.
