11 couples tie nuptial knot in a mass marriage ceremony

Kanpur: As many as 11 couples tied the nuptial knot at Mangal Bhawan on Sunday evening in a mass marriage ceremony organised by the Corporators Welfare Association.Mayor Pramila Pandey, BJP regional president Prakash Pal, MLA Surendra Maithani, minister Kamlawati Singh, MLC Salil Bishnoi, Avinash Singh Chauhan, Panki Mahant Krishna Das and several corporators were present at the event.Family members of the brides and grooms gathered at the venue in the morning and performed traditional Hindu marriage rituals during the day. The evening ceremony witnessed a festive atmosphere as the beautifully decorated Mangal Bhawan was visible from a distance, while the melodious sound of shehnai echoed across the area.The brides and grooms exchanged garlands during the ‘Jaimala’ ceremony in the presence of the mayor and other distinguished guests, who later blessed the newly-weds for a happy married life. The Corporators Welfare Association also presented household goods and other essential items to each couple.Speaking on the occasion, mayor Pramila Pandey said that the first programme held at Mangal Bhawan was a grand success, noting that 11 couples from economically weaker sections were married with dignity and collective support.
