Amritsar: A 19-year-old youth, Satyam, allegedly died by suicide at his house in Baba Deep Singh Colony on Fatehgarh Churian Road. His mother was the first to discover the body on Monday.Family members said Satyam had been deeply distressed ever since a theft case was registered against him recently. A first-year BPharmacy student at a private college, he also worked as a labourer to support his family. About five days ago, Satyam had gone to work in place of his father. It was during this period that the homeowners accused him of stealing Rs 35,000 and a gold ring. Despite the lack of evidence, a theft case was lodged against him, the family claimed. On Sunday, Satyam left for tile work at another house but did not return. His phone remained switched off through the day. The next morning, his mother found him hanging.
