Mohali: Laxmikant Tiwari, Radiological Safety Officer at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, has been conferred the Bharat Gaurav Award for his professional excellence and social service.

The award was presented by Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria at a function held at a private hotel in Chandigarh.The ceremony, chaired by the governor, was attended by several dignitaries, including Mahamandaleshwar Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj, Haryana cabinet minister Krishna Kumar Bedi, Shyam Singh Rana and Punjab assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan. Twenty personalities from across India were honoured for notable contributions in their fields.

The administrator lauded Tiwari’s exemplary work in radiological safety at GMCH-32’s X-ray department, calling it a benchmark in patient-centric healthcare. Tiwari, who joined GMCH in 1994, is known for his commitment to high-quality radiological safety protocols and professional integrity.Born in Chandigarh, Tiwari pursued higher education at PGI. Alongside his official duties, he has been active in social and welfare initiatives and has twice received the Chandigarh administration’s State Award for social service.Tiwari currently serves as the national president of the Indian Association of Radiological Technologists. He also played a significant role in the creation of the National Commission for Allied Healthcare Professionals, and was nominated to both the Commission and its Allied Healthcare Professionals Committee.
