Kanpur: A 23-year-old youth hanged himself during a video call on Saturday after a woman friend rejected his marriage proposal a few days earlier, police said.The youth, identified as Gautam Sonkar, a resident of Colonelganj who worked at Loha Mandi, tried to convince the woman through the call. When she refused to agree, he hanged himself during the video call. When he did not answer the phone, the family members reached his home and discovered the incident. According to family members, he tried to cut his wrist veins four days ago over the same issue.Bajaria police station in-charge Arvind Sharma said that the youth committed suicide after the woman friend refused marriage. He said, “If the victim’s family files any complaint, action will be taken.
