Kanpur: Police arrested three people, including a woman and her female partner, for allegedly hiring assailants to murder the woman’s husband in Asothar police station area in Fatehpur.

The victim’s wife confessed to the crime on being questioned and raids are being conducted to nab the other two accused.On Jan 14, a man’s body was found in a pigeon pea field in Teekar village and a case was registered. During investigation it was found that the deceased’s wife had been in a homosexual relationship. According to police, the accused’s partner often visited the victim’s house to meet his wife. When their family learnt about the relationship, they stopped their meeting.SP Anoop Singh said that after this the victim’s wife and her partner started secretly conversing on a keypad mobile phone. Police said that during these conversations, a conspiracy was hatched to eliminate the victim.The accused contacted an assailant and the contract for the murder was fixed at Rs 60,000 with an initial payment of Rs 8000. On Jan 14, as soon as the victim reached the field, the contract killer and his two aides allegedly strangled him with a rope and then slit his throat with a knife. . Police said they arrested the victim’s wife, her partner and an associate while the contract killer and his accomplice were absconding.Police said they recovered three mobile phones used for planning and conversations, and also seized the rope used in the murder. SP Anoop Singh said several police teams were formed to arrest the absconding accused.
