Sambalpur: Police have unearthed a major theft racket involving the diversion of industrial materials in Sambalpur and arrested two persons. Burla SDPO Baleswar Gidhi said a truck carrying 27 bundles of wire rods left Dhenkanal for Raipur on Jan 11, but failed to reach its destination by Jan 13.Cyber-tracking revealed that truck driver, Jhanak Nayak, had contacted Pradip Mohanty of Shantinagar. During interrogation, Pradip said the driver planned to sell the materials illegally and had contacted Nisar Ahmed, a scrap dealer from Sunapali. The wire rods were unloaded and hidden near Goshala, while the truck was abandoned near Sohela Degree College, Bargarh.
Police seized the truck, the stolen wire rods, and a car used in the crime. Pradip and Nisar have been arrested, while Jhanak is on the run.
