Bathinda: Even as the minimum temperatures recorded some rise in Punjab and Haryana, both the states continued to experience cold wave conditions, with dense fog in some parts. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 3°C at Narnaul in Haryana, which was the lowest in the plains of the country.Dense to very dense fog conditions prevailed in most parts of Punjab and in some parts of Haryana. Zero visibility was reported in Amritsar, 15 metres in Faridkot, 20 metres in Patiala and Gurdaspur, 40 metres in Bathinda, and 50 metres in Ludhiana in Punjab.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense to very dense fog conditions were very likely to prevail in morning/night hours in isolated/some parts over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh till Jan 18, and dense fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh till Jan 22. Light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall was likely over Himachal Pradesh till Jan 22. Light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall was also likely over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Jan 22 and 23. As against Friday, a rise of 1.8°C in average minimum temperature was recorded till the morning on Saturday in Punjab, and it was recorded near normal in the state. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 4.4°C at Amritsar.In Haryana, as against Friday, a rise of 1.1°C in average minimum temperature was recorded till the morning on Saturday, and it was recorded near normal in the state.
