Lucknow: Emphasising the need for a holistic approach towards medical health, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said today diseases and health issues not only have physical attributes but emotional quotients as well which are equally important to be addressed.“Today, medical health is not limited to parameters of one’s body but is also about individuals state of mind and emotions. There must be a holistic approach towards a healthy lifestyle as the very basis of a medical regime to keep one healthy,” Akhilesh said chairing the Holistic Health Summit organised by Vision India – Plan, Development & Ascent (VI-PDA) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The event was part of a series of programmes that SP is organising in different states to interact with experts and stakeholders from different fields to feel the need of the hour.
The exercise is aimed at preparing a blueprint of the pressing needs that a govt must address for the prosperity of the people. Holistic health comprises physical health, fitness, healthy food, positive social support, happy working conditions and an overall positive atmosphere. Unless all these elements are in tune, focus on improving the medical condition of the people may not have a wholesome effect, Akhilesh said. “When health services fail to deliver, medical services take precedence. Health is a positive concept. Medicine is a curative concept. When the focus is on holistic health, then there will be a fall in the number of people taking ill. People will be healthy physically and emotionally. Negativity impacts people’s health directly,” Akhilesh said. The former UP CM said in the present times more negativity is coming people’s way. “This negativity is impacting the medical condition of people. There are times when this negativity dispensed through microblogging sites impacts not only the people but the social and political atmosphere as well. Climate only adds to the situation. Pollution in Delhi, contaminated drinking water in Indore claiming human lives are issues directly linked to people’s health. Holistic health covers all these aspects,” Akhilesh said.
‘No other ruler demolished as many temples as BJP’ Akhilesh Yadav said no other ruler had ever demolished as many temples as the BJP has in the name of development.Akhilesh was responding to the issue of alleged desecration of idols of deities and removal of the statue of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar at the Manikarnika Ghat in the name of redevelopment in Varanasi. “No other ruler on this earth has ever demolished as many temples as the BJP has.
Under the BJP govt mythologically important temples are being razed.” Earlier, Akhilesh had flagged the removal of Holkar’s statue describing it as an insult which was demeaning the Sanatani–Kashi legacy. “BJP people are doing all this only to make money. They don’t have any regard for Varanasi, the people of Kashi or historical figures associated with it. Indestructible Kashi will prove to be the reason for BJP’s defeat,” Akhilesh said. “With the help of the people, a temple is being constructed in Saifai but the BJP people are creating hindrance. BJP has not treated Kashi well. They have neither left it as Kashi traditionally was nor have they transformed it into the Kyoto they (BJP) had promised,” Akhilesh said. SP to move SC over voter list mismatch Akhilesh on Saturday said the party was preparing to move the Supreme Court against the mismatch in total count of voters in electoral rolls of the ECI and the State Election Commission in Uttar Pradesh.“I will ask the legal team to approach the Supreme Court over this difference. It will help to get clarity on which of the two lists is accurate,” he said. As per the SP, the voter list available with the ECI states that UP has 12.56 crore voters. At the same time the SEC list shows that UP has 12.69 crore rural voters alone and if urban voters are to be added to it, the total will exceed 17 crore voters. The SP has been questioning this mismatch especially when the two lists have been prepared by the same set of booth level officers and other officials at the ground level.
