The Kanpur division and other parts of Uttar Pradesh continue to reel under severe cold and chilly conditions, with no respite expected in the coming days. Kanpur division is likely to experience foggy mornings and evenings due to humidity, but there will be some relief as afternoons will be sunny.
The impact of snowfall and rain in the hills is expected to intensify cold day conditions and chilly weather across the northern plains. The minimum temperatures in the northern belt were recorded between 4.4 and 4.9 degrees Celsius.According to weathermen, Prayagraj reported the lowest minimum temperature at 4.4 degrees Celsius, while Kanpur shivered at 4.8 degrees Celsius.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the current western disturbance will keep affecting the western Himalayan region until January 18. Subsequently, two more western disturbances are likely to impact North-West India on Jan 19 and 21. Sunil Pandey, weather expert at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology said that night temperatures across Uttar Pradesh, including the Kanpur division, are likely to dip by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
The official further said that mild conditions may prevail during the night, morning, and evening hours, while some relief from pollution and fog is expected during these periods.
