UP is setting an example for other states by building integrated courts, says CJI

Varanasi: After laying the foundation of integrated court complexes for 6 districts of Uttar Pradesh here on Saturday, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said, “UP set an example for other states of the country by deciding to build integrated court complexes.”While addressing a ceremony after performing the rituals of Bhoomi-Pujan of integrated court complexes with chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the CJI congratulated the UP govt and the Allahabad High Court for setting this example. “UP’s Chief Minister announced the establishment of 10 integrated court complexes in the state, and work on 6 started today. With their completion, UP will set an example and benchmarks for the country.““Whichever state I go to, I will give the UP govt’s example there and appeal to other state govts and High Courts to provide such facilities in their states too,” said the CJI, mentioning that the court complex will prove to be a temple of justice. “This region is famous for many historical religious temples. UP’s Chief Minister added a new link to that same history.”Integrated court complexes will successfully meet the requirements of the judiciary for the next 50 years, said the CJI, adding that due to their facilities for advocates and common people, these court complexes will prove to be a temple of justice, as by sitting here, judicial officers will deliver justice to complainants while keeping human values in mind. Bar members will also have an active role in this.“District judiciary has been given an important place in the Constitution. There is an article in it that every state will have its own High Court, and that High Court will have the capacity to enforce fundamental, human and other rights. The thinking of the Constitution makers was that when district judiciary is established, people will get court facilities in their area,” he said. The CJI asked the High Court that separate bar rooms should be made for women practising in district courts. While appreciating the arrangements here, he also asked the Chief Minister to ensure a primary health centre in the integrated court complexes, as it will also provide relief to elderly people, litigants, etc, from health-related problems.
