Hisar: In a dramatic late-night episode near the Inspector General of Police’s office on Wednesday, a group of youths allegedly sped off in an SUV while a policeman clung to the vehicle, after he tried stopping them at a traffic signal.Police said the SUV — registered in Meghalaya — was intercepted after traffic personnel spotted youths sitting on its rooftop while the vehicle was in motion. As an officer attempted to pull one of them down, the driver suddenly accelerated, dragging the policeman for several metres before the group finally slowed down and pushed him off.A police spokesperson said the accused attempted to flee to avoid action for dangerous driving and public endangerment. A case has been registered for obstructing a public servant and endangering life.In swift action, the SUV was traced and seized, and two youths were arrested. Police have not yet disclosed the identities of all those involved, and teams are working to identify and nab the remaining suspects. Further investigation is underway.
