Heavy vehicles passing through Gurgaon to be diverted to KMP Expressway for Republic Day

Gurgaon: To ensure smooth traffic movement and foolproof security during Republic Day 2026 parade rehearsals, heavy vehicles passing through the city towards Delhi will be diverted via the KMP Expressway.The diversion will be enforced on Jan 22, when rehearsals will be conducted, and again on Jan 26 to ease congestion on key arterial roads linking Gurgaon with the national capital and to facilitate security arrangements.

DCP (traffic) Rajesh Mohan briefed truck union drivers about the advisory and appealed to them to strictly adhere to the guidelines to maintain smooth traffic arrangements across the district. Police said multiple traffic checkpoints will be set up at strategic locations throughout the city. Heavy vehicle drivers were directed not to park their vehicles on roads and to use only designated safe parking areas to prevent obstruction to traffic flow.Meanwhile, DCP headquarters Arpit Jain said the police are fully prepared to ensure security during the event. “We have already held a coordination meeting with our Delhi counterparts and are staying vigilant to ensure security and avoid any untoward situation. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on the key roads in Gurgaon, and maximum deployment will be carried out on Republic Day,” he said. Traffic police also appealed to heavy vehicle drivers to follow traffic rules .
