Surat: The state monitoring cell (SMC) of Gujarat Police raided a site on the Mumbai–Surat highway near the Sangam Solar Plant at Una village bridge in Navsari district on Saturday and seized a large consignment of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).Acting on specific intelligence, the team intercepted a vehicle during a running raid in the jurisdiction of Navsari Rural police station. During the operation, police recovered 14,016 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 37.62 lakh.Officers also seized a vehicle valued at Rs 25 lakh, a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000, Rs 2,000 in cash and forged bills and documents. The total value of the items seized was estimated to be Rs 62.69 lakh.One accused, Akhileshsingh alias Dipaksingh Rameshsingh, a resident of Pandesara in Surat, was arrested and handed over to Navsari police for further investigation.Police also named Vinod Pandit, a resident of Palsana in Surat, as wanted in the case.The raid was led by inpector M S Trivedi of the SMC.
