She told the CWC that on Jan 11, a prospective groom, accompanied by her brother-in-law, visited her home to finalise the alliance. She said her parents initially hesitated but later agreed under pressure from relatives. As preparations advanced, she sought outside help, saying she wanted to continue her education. Her parents initially denied involvement but later admitted they had planned the marriage and acknowledged their mistake. They have since said they will support her education, citing financial hardship.CWC chairman Rupak Majumdar said the committee would extend full support to the girl and her family.
