History-sheeter arrested in Tenkasi

Chennai: City police arrested a history-sheeter, Kanagu alias Kanagaraj, 36, of Choolaimedu, from a private resort in Courtallam, near Tenkasi, on Friday. He was staying there with his family to celebrate Pongal.Police said Kanagaraj was involved in more than 15 criminal cases, including murder and possession of firearms. Acting on specific intelligence, a special team from Chennai police, which was camping in Courtallam, traced his movements and arrested him along with three of his associates—Karthik, Chapin, and Prakash—who were staying at the same resort.Police sources said the suspects were secured at gunpoint and brought to Chennai by road. They were produced before a magistrate court on Saturday and remanded in judicial custody.Meanwhile, Kanagaraj’s wife Meghala submitted a petition to the commissioner’s office stating that her husband’s life was in danger.
