Bengaluru: The govt will set up two state-of-the-art hospitals with a capacity of 125 beds each in Yelahanka and Sanjaynagar, at a total cost of Rs 150 crore, by 2028.The govt had announced in its 2025-26 budget that a 200-bed multispecialty hospital would be established in North Bengaluru taluk. However, after much deliberation, the govt decided to set up two advanced superspecialty hospitals: the first on a five-acre govt land at Bellahalli in Yelahanka, and the other on a four-acre land on GKVK campus.“In a city like Bengaluru, where mobility and travelling from one place to the other are common problems, we decided it’d be better to have two separate hospitals to cater to the population of those areas,” said health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Ramanagara needs 650-bed hosp: ManjunathBangalore Rural MP Dr CN Manjunath has written to medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) vice-chancellor BC Bhagwan, requesting a 650-bed hospital within RGUHS Medical College campus in Ramanagara of Bengaluru South district. “Such a facility will not only fulfil Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission norms for clinical training but will significantly strengthen secondary and tertiary healthcare services for the people of Ramanagara district and surrounding rural areas,” the MP added. The existing Ramanagara district hospital has a capacity of 250 beds and is located nearly 3km from the medical college campus. “This poses serious practical challenges with respect to academic integration, patient care, emergency services, and optimal utilisation of infrastructure and manpower,” he noted.
