Jaipur: The District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission No. 2, Jaipur, on Thursday issued bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against actor Salman Khan for allegedly continuing to endorse a pan masala product through misleading advertisements.

The commission directed Khan to appear before it on Feb 6. Commission president Gyarsilal Meena ordered the police commissioner to ensure execution of the warrant. The order was passed while hearing a contempt petition filed by Yogendra Singh. According to the petition, Rajshree Pan Masala was promoted through ads that allegedly misled the public by claiming that the product was made with saffron (“kesar”). “Such claims create a false impression of safety and quality, while the consumption of pan masala is widely known to be associated with serious health risks, including cancer,” Singh argued.
