21-yr-old lured to Kankaria football ground for truce, stabbed to death

Ahmedabad: A 21-year-old man was murdered at the Kankaria football ground around 9.45pm on Tuesday, allegedly after being called there to “work out a compromise” in an earlier dispute. In the complaint filed with Maninagar police by his brother, Rahul Rathod, the victim, Chirag Rathod, a cab driver, was found on the ground in a pool of blood. The accused have been named as Manthan Parmar, Jaydip Shah, Harshil Shah and Vijay Parmar. Rahul stated that his family, passing by the ground, saw a crowd gathered and spotted Chirag’s friend, Nayan, among the people. The family found Chirag bleeding from his mouth, with an injury on his torso consistent with an attack by a sharp weapon. An ambulance was called but Chirag was declared dead.Rathod told police that the incident was the fallout of a quarrel earlier in the day involving a woman friend. Chirag’s reported objection to her relationship led to his argument with her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly called Nayan on WhatsApp, asking them to meet for a compromise. Nayan and Chirag arrived at the spot where the boyfriend and a friend were allegedly armed with a knife, a sword and a stick.
