Lucknow: Manchester Super Giants was on Thursday unveiled as the new team name that will represent Manchester in The Hundred, with home fixtures to be played at Emirates Old Trafford.
The announcement marks a significant milestone for the franchise as it enters an exciting new era under the ownership of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG Group) and Lancashire Cricket.As part of its commitment to building a high-performance environment, Manchester Super Giants have confirmed an experienced and highly respected cricket leadership structure across both the men’s and women’s teams.Tom Moody has been appointed Global Director of Cricket, with overall responsibility for cricket strategy and performance across all RPSG-owned teams, including Lucknow Super Giants, Durban’s Super Giants and now Manchester Super Giants.
Moody brings more than two decades of experience in elite cricket environments, having served as a Head Coach, Director and Mentor across international teams and major franchise competitions.
Moody and RPSG Chief Executive, Vinay Chopra, will work with Lancashire Cricket Director of Cricket Performance, Mark Chilton, to oversee the cricket strategy for Manchester’s newest sports team.Justin Langer has been named as the new Men’s Head Coach, succeeding Simon Katich.Langer has previously held Head Coach roles with London Spirit in The Hundred, Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash and is the current Head Coach of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.Matthew Mott has been appointed as the new Women’s Head Coach, succeeding Michael Klinger, and brings with him an outstanding record in women’s cricket. During his tenure as Head Coach of Australia Women, Mott oversaw an era of unprecedented success, including ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup victories, multiple ICC Women’s T20 World Cup titles and extended periods of dominance across all formats. He was also England’s white-ball Head Coach from 2022 to 2024, a period that included victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.Dr Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman of the RPSG Group & Owner of the Manchester Super Giants, said, “This is an exciting and important phase for us as we formally integrate the Manchester cricket franchise into the wider Super Giants family.
