Two held in cow slaughter case

Kanpur: The Jalaun police arrested two accused in the Kudra Buzurg cow slaughter case after an encounter on Khowa–Rawa road late Tuesday night. Both accused were shot in the leg and were admitted to the district hospital for treatment. According to police, a checking drive was launched on Khowa–Rawa road on Tuesday night. When police tried to stop suspicious bike riders, they opened fire on the police team. Police retaliated in self-defence, injuring both accused in the legs and arresting them on the spot.SP Pradeep Kumar Verma and Konch CO reached the spot and inspected the scene.Police said they received information that members of an inter-district cow slaughter gang were planning to carry out an operation in Bhed area. Based on the input, intensive checking was initiated. Thje Bhed outpost in-charge received information that Javed alias Kalla and Asghar, residents of Araji Line, Konch, involved in the case, had left on a motorcycle.Seeing the cops, the accused attempted to flee and fired several rounds at the police party. In retaliatory firing, both were shot in the legs and fell on the spot. During the search, police recovered two .315 bore pistols, live and empty cartridges, cash, the motorcycle used in the crimeand cow slaughter tools. Further legal action is underway.
