CJI to lay foundation of Chandauli district court on Jan 17

Varanasi: Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant and Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Justice Arun Bhansali, along with a large number of judges, will arrive in Varanasi on a two-day visit starting Jan 16. On Jan 17, the CJI will lay the foundation stone of the proposed district court campus and buildings in Chandauli district.After inspecting the proposed site of the district court and reviewing preparations for the CJI’s visit, divisional commissioner S Rajalingam on Wednesday said that all arrangements for the stay and movement of the judges in Varanasi and Chandauli had been finalised.As five Supreme Court judges and 18 other judges from the Allahabad High Court are also likely to accompany the CJI, the officials have been put on extra alert. After arriving on Jan 16, the CJI-led team of judges is expected to visit Kashi Vishwanath temple. Following an overnight stay in Kashi, they will participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the proposed district court in Chandauli district.
