GRP outpost-in-charge sent to jail for taking bribe

Kanpur: GRP Anwarganj outpost in-charge Premchand was presented in the Anti-Corruption Team’s court on Tuesday and sent to jail in judicial custody for taking bribe. The accused SI, a native of Mathura, was posted at Anwarganj GRP outpost in Kanpur for one year. Etawah GRP CO Uday Pratap Singh said that orders for a departmental inquiry were issued. Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, Anwarganj railway station is being redeveloped. Contractor Sandeep, who was installing tiles, complained that GRP outpost in-charge Premchand was demanding Rs 5,000 as a convenience fee every month. The Anti-Corruption Team prepared a trap caught the accused SI as soon as he took the money from the contractor’s supervisor.
