Ahmedabad: An 83-year-old woman on Thursday lodged a complaint with Satellite police after her bag containing gold jewellery worth around Rs 8.25 lakh was allegedly stolen during a BRTS bus journey from Adalaj to Shivranjani on Tuesday.According to the FIR, Saryu Dalal, a resident of Adalaj in Gandhinagar, stated that the incident occurred while she was travelling to a jewellery showroom in the city. Dalal said she was accompanied by her elder sister, Kundan Gandhi, and her son, Rahul Dalal, while travelling to AB Jewellers at Shivranjani to get ornaments made.
The trio boarded BRTS route number 47 from Ambaji Township BRTS bus stop near Trimandir in Adalaj around noon and got down at Shivranjani BRTS station around 1.05pm. After alighting from the bus, Dalal checked her handbag and found that a small white pouch from a jewellery house, kept inside her purse, was missing.The pouch allegedly contained 5 gold biscuits weighing 20 grams each, 1 gold biscuit of 2.5g, a gold bangle weighing around 20g, and a gold necklace weighing about 15g. The total weight of the gold was around 137.5g, valued at approximately Rs 8.25 lakh. tnn
