Gurgaon: A 71-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident while he was out on a morning walk near Chirag Hospital in Rajendra Park on Friday. Surajpal Yadav, a resident of Rajendra Park, was walking towards Baba Prakash Puri around 8.30am when a speeding motorcycle hit him from behind.


His neighbour, Lokesh Yadav, who was walking a short distance behind, witnessed the incident and told police the rider was driving rashly. The motorcyclist fled immediately after the collision. On receiving information, a police team from Rajendra Park police station reached the spot and later the hospital. “The body was sent for post-mortem examination and death-related documents were collected. Based on the complaint and medical records, police registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the BNS,” an officer said.It added that efforts are on to identify and trace the motorcyclist who fled the scene after the accident. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to establish the sequence of events and locate the accused vehicle.
