70-yr-old woman's murder case detected by Raigad police, accused son-in-law, 3 aides held

Navi Mumbai: The Raigad local crime branch (LCB) team has detected the murder case of a 70-year-old woman by arresting her son-in-law and his three aides on Saturday within 48 hours of registering an FIR at Revdanda police station, Alibaug taluka on Jan 29. The murder motive was robbery of the victim’s gold ornaments, informed the police.PI Milind Khopade of Raigad LCB informed that, the murder victim has been identified as Manda Pramod Mhatre, who was residing alone in Tekalkar village in Alibaug taluka. She was found dead at her home by her husband. The post-mortem report revealed the cause of death was due to strangulation. As her gold ornaments were missing, the murder motive was suspected to be robbery. Using technical expertise, the key suspect, the victim’s son-in-law identified as Mahadev Dhobale (25), hailing from Pathardi in Ahilyanagar district was zeroed-in, as there was a family dispute as his estranged wife resided in Pune. After arresting Dhobale, he led to his three aides, who were also arrested from Pathardi on the same day. They have been identified as Ashok Bhosale (19), Ganesh Pandagale (25) and Shubham Pawar (23). The robbed gold ornaments of the victim is yet to be recovered for which the police custody remand of the arrested accused will be sought after producing them before the court.”
