70-year-old convict surrenders in Ghazipur court while lying on a cot

Varanasi: Accused or convicts often walk into courts to surrender. But in a unique case, a 70-year-old convict in a cheque bounce case surrendered before the additional chief judicial magistrate, Ghazipur, while lying on a cot, on Thursday.Yadav pleaded that he was ill, physically weak, and unable to walk. Considering this, the court arranged a vehicle for him which took him to jail.

Advocate Ramashray Singh said the convict, Ramdarsh Yadav, was brought to the court room on a cot by his family members. Yadav was convicted by the Ghazipur court in a cheque bounce case and directed to surrender. He had borrowed some money for business and issued a cheque for repayment which bounced.Yadav had challenged the order before the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court but it refused to entertain his plea and directed him to abide by the lower court order.
